Maps can be very helpful. Maps help us build a better understanding of a topic and simplify what can be a lot of data into a more digestible format that sticks with us longer than a string of numbers will do.
These maps show the extent of large-scale solar projects in Virginia by acres and number of panels, and across our watersheds.
Virginia solar in acres and panels: These two maps illustrate the intensity of utility-scale development including projects that are already in operation, that are under construction, or have been described in the official filings of solar developers.
Mapping stormwater runoff in VA watersheds: These two maps focus on projected total utility-scale solar development in Virginia watersheds. The first looks at the Chesapeake Bay watershed, which includes the Shenandoah, Potomac, Rappahannock, York, and James River basins. The second covers river basins in southern and southwestern Virginia.
